This app does not work with other weather stations so it’s essentially useless unless you have an acurite
I got an Accurite weather station for Christmas 2015, and was excited to use it to report to wunderground.com. Unfortunately it comes from the factory only Windows comparable. After a brief search, I found this App in the Beta version and contacted the developer about trying it out. He has done a great job working out bugs, and I am so glad that it is available for everyone now. If you have, or considered buying an Accurite weather station, do not hesitate, this app works great! Centerville, Ohio now has an accurate forcast at KOHDAYTO66. :-)

Finally a weather program for mac that hooks up to the Acurite 5 in 1 with no problems. I have been running this software for some time now and it works great! You can report you readings to WeatherUnderground, Weathercloud and PWS weather and it does so in rapid fire if the weather sites support it. You cant go wrong with this software.
Just hooked my computer up. Real easy and my station works well with this app. I have an accurite weather station which fits into their system well..As I am typing I am looking at the weather info from my outside station. Can find my self on their system. For the price of free this app is great!
Odd urgent request
Can you please clarify (due to contoversy) just what the arrow indicates in the wind speed icon ? There seems to be some back and forth about just how wunderground is representing their weather barbs. And this may sound odd but could you please actually draw a diagram
Works with Ambient Weather Station & WU
I have an Ambient Weather Station 2902 and a 5000 console. This app is able to use the Weather Underground API you can get from your WU account page. The only issue is the data on the pulldown menu is readable but grayed out. It has not been updated since 2021 and the support page link is dead. I am glad it still mostly works.
Great App.. In Theory
I tried what other reviewers said, and tried connecting to other stations in my area and nothing would connect at all. So either no one shares station data in my area or the app doesn't work.
Sending Bad Precipitation Data
I thought I had found a Mac solution for my Acurite weather station but this software is sending erroneous precipitation data which makes it useless to me as that is my main interest. I've beening using it since early January and have had total rainfall of 0.81 inches but it has reported over 90 inches to Weather Underground and PWS Weather and recorded that to the database it keeps as well!

Works great, thank you!! Some suggestions for further features: (1) Ability to control how frequently data are updated through the preferences. (2) Some kind of history/graphing option when one clicks the data on the status bar.
Failed For Me
Failed for me. Could not connect to known good WU station data. Got tired of troubleshooting and deleted the app.
Fills an imortant need
After some years of persisting with Acurite’s PC-Connect, first by using a headless PC and then by using the Mac version of it I eventually threw in the towel (when Connect ceased working at all) and loaded UnderTheWX. What a difference! Why did I not do this change long ago? UnderTheWX worked out of the box and minimal preference changes were needed. It found Wunderground with essentially no interaction from me. I will be interested to see how it handles power outages which would always bring the older USB software to its knees.
Only if you own a Personal Weather Station
Since Weather Underground changed its APIs, now this app only works if you have a PWS. I liked the app because it let me get data from nearby stations through WU, but now it's unfortunately useless.
No longer works without a personal weather station
I used to use this app as a quick way to check local weather. With the new update it will not work unless you have your own personal weather station, which makes it useless for me.

This app allows me to display my Weather Underground connected weather station on my Mac menu bar, and send that station's data on to Weathercloud, Citizen Weather, Weather Obeservation Website and PWS. Thank you for figuring out how to work around Weather Underground's recent changes. I can easily generate the API required key from my WUnderground member settings page. I would gladly pay for this app.

While there is currently an issue, the developer has been in contact and hopes to have a resolution in the next couple of days. Great support!
No Longer Updates
Won't connect to WeatherUnderground, and hasn't for two weeks now.

There have been occasional problems with fetching data from Weather Underground. The developer has responded in a timely manner each time. 5 stars for prompt customer support.

Retrieving Data FAILSs from WU
This app was working great until Feb 2021. It is no longer able to retrieve data from Weather Unground statatio. App needs to be updated. See wxforum.com for similar user comments.
Suddenly stopped working
Like others, the app suddenly stopped reading data from Weather Underground stations. I've emailed the developer but haven't received a response yet (it's been 5 days). Others are reporting the same issue, so it's not just me. I really hope the developer can resolve this issue as this app is fantastic when it's working.
It stopped working
I was happy to find this app to monitor my own Wunderground pws. Althought the app doesnt allow uploads to Wunderground, it however allows monitoring Wunderground stations. For some reason, after two months of working properly, now the app displays "failed getting data". Which is strange since my station and every other station in my area are working properly.
Update-Not Working now
Update March 1, 2021 - The app can no longer fetch any WeatherUnderground Station IDs as of Feb. 25, 2021. Changing to 1-Star until fixed. Probably WU's fault as they are always messing things up these days. Hoping this gets fixed A.S.A.P.! This little app works great! First app I always install on every computer. Personal Weather info in my status bar is just what I need. Been using this app for years (with Accurite system and now with my Ambient Weather system) and it works (even before the latest update) on my new M1 MBP. So easy to share to various Web Weather Services too. I would install UnderTheWX Right Now!
Excellent FollowUp
Dave Sperl had responded to my previous concern quickly. I also ran into an issue with Weather Underground where it caused an issue with UnderTheWX stopped reporting my data. Dave quickly fixed this issue also. It's a rare application that is this old yet still receives bug fixes. Also, there are no advertising popups.

Great app, works exactly as expected! i'd love some more customization features, though. LIke, changing the font size in the menu bar, maybe being able to add a conditions icon, info on lightning in the menu itself. But, really great app, very pleased!
Appreciate this lightweight app
I wanted to have some weather data in a hyper-local way (e.g. a neighbor's Weather Underground weather station). I couldn't find an app that supplied this... EXCEPT for this app! Appreciate that it comes without all of the frills of a bunch of other apps I tried. Thank you!
No longer updating
Worked fine for a couple weeks, but now it's dead. Doesn't update, won't connect to any other weather stations.
Awesome - works with Weather Underground!
I've got Weather Underground on my iPhone & iPad, but was disappointed to not see a corresponding app for Mac OS - until I found this. Basically, this is designed to connect to your own personal weather station, but allows you to log into other WU stations on the network if you know the station name. You just have to set it up in the app preferences. I couldn't get the station search to work via the app, but that was easily fixed by going to the WU website and finding stations around my location. Not all stations will be accessible (likely due to the owner's access preferences) but with a little trial and error i found a few that worked for me. Simply look at the map on the WU website for stations around you and click on one close by. That should bring up a page for that station which has the station ID name listed. Copy / paste the name into the app's Station ID field and click 'test'. If it works, it'll say connected successfully. If not, find another station and try again. Great little weather app - thanks!
Couldn't find a station
Oddly, the app was unsresponsive in trying to locate a Wx station. When I hit "Find", nothing happened. It may be a 3 instead of a 2, but somehow, I expected more. There was nothing to set this aside as worth the memory space.
Works BEST with Firefox browser
I’m a nerdy scientist, so I crave lots of data with my weather report, and this app REALLY delivers the goods! Lots of graphics-based and text-based info available. I use iMac desktop computers (OS 10.13.6) at home and at work, and I’ve found this app works best (i.e., it displays ALL the data types advertised) when used with the Firefox web browser and the Weather Underground monitoring service. Initially, I tried it with the Chrome web browser: only about 40 percent of the various functions were available and displayable; maps and “advanced” functions wouldn’t display at all! Have yet to try this app with the Safari browser. I am really happy with this app so far.
Simple and powerful.
Awesome, clean and simple app! The only thing that is missing is the ability to report wind gust data. When reporting weather data to a CWOP site, it would be more accurate to include wind gust data. Hopefully this feature is added in the future.
I can’t believe it!!
It’s been a long time since I was able to use my Acurite WS on this MacMini. How this group of developers got it to work when Acurite can’t, or won’t, is beyond me. All I know is this app works. My thanks to Dave and Getware for making my weather station useful again!!
can’t open
I’ve downloaded the apt and was shown it was complete. Not able to open apt! Deleted apt to reload thinking maybe the download was incomplete. No change! deleted and reloaded twice , no luck. I have Mac computer with the Sierra operating system. Help!!
Extremely happy!
I tried so many different apps to work with Acurite and none would. The few that did were awful and weren’t consistent. Then I found this one. Once I got it setup (USB MODE 4) for my Acurite 0136, it has worked for MONTHS now without issue. Couldn’t be happier.
I waited two long years…..
….. I bought an Acurite 5-in-1 two years ago and it has never uploaded date to Weather Underground. I knew if I waited long enouch, someone would make an app to fix this known problem with no known solution. It took me less than 5 minutes to get my weather station to finally do what it’s supposed to do! Thank you so much! (Oh. The fix? Setting the USB to 4. Who knew?)
Good App so far
I’ve been using weewx on linux boxes to interface my station and wunderground - decided to give this a try with my Mac. It’s interfacing with my station well and uploading in near real time to wunderground.
Works Great!
I have managed to utilize this app to collect the data and use it for my needs. Using it with an Acurite 5-in-1 actually makes using this weather station with a computer work! It collects data every few seconds whereas the manufacture software can only collect every 12 minutes. It sends data to a number of personal weather collection services. Even collecting data and sending it to these services puts very little load on the system and doesn’t hinder it in any way.
What a great app!
Although I run a Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus, this little app sits in my menu bar and tells me the weather information for a Wunderground station I monitor in Maine! How awesome is that? Should really cost money…for what it does. Thanks, kudos and a spin of the weathervane to the developer. WELL DONE!
